 Watch the Throne is the debut studio album by The Throne, an American hip hop duo composed of Jay-Z and Kanye West. The album was released on August 8, 2011, by Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc Nation, and Def Jam Recordings. Recording sessions for the album took place at various recording locations and began in November 2010. The first single, titled “H•A•M”, was released in January 2011 with the following single, “Otis”, released on July 20, 2011. Jay-Z and West will promote the album with a concert tour during October to December 2011.

New Eminem Track, Jay-Z’s Biggest Hits Coming to “DJ Hero Renegade Edition” Albums

Rolling Stone Reports DJ Hero has announced its massive 93-song in-game track list — which boasts Beastie Boys blended with Foo Fighters and 50 Cent vs. David Bowie — and now Rolling Stone can exclusively reveal the track lists for Eminem and Jay-Z’s Renegade compilations that will accompany the DJ Hero Renegade Edition of the game (the Renegade comps aren’t playable tracks, but best-of CDs). Jay-Z’s Renegade collection is the first best-of comp of Jigga’s career — though there’s reportedly talk of another coming in November — so Jay-Z sticks to the hits. Eminem, however, opts for deeper cuts and rarities from his arsenal, including a brand new song called “Taking My Ball” that will feature exclusively on the DJ Hero Renegade disc. Both rappers hand-selected their respective track lists. “The tracks we put on this disc are mostly overlooked or rarer favorites of mine from all different parts of my career,” Eminem said. “I also put a brand new, unheard song on there so even the biggest fan has something new.” DJ Hero and DJ Hero Renegade Edition will both be released October 27th, but Slim Shady fans can hear “Taking My Ball” October 16th when the track debuts on Em’s Sirius radio station Shade45. In addition to the game itself and the dual hits compilations, DJ Hero Renegade will feature a premium Renegade turntable controller and a hardshell turntable carrying case that converts into a DJ stand. The Renegade cover art was created by artist Shepard Fairey, who also produced the famous Obama Hope poster as well as the recent Obama cover of Rolling Stone. Food For Thought - Conversations With Jay-Z

As we reported yesterday, BET shut down 106 & Park, their hit music video countdown show, early in order to show a new exclusive interview with Jay-Z that they called "Food for Thought: Conversation with Jay-Z." The special was filmed at Sequoia’s restaurant in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport and features Jay-Z speaking with with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, journalist Harry Allen and sports commentator Stephen A. Song leaks are a gift and a curse for most recording artists. While bootlegging is an inevitability at this point, some record labels offer advance songs as an element of their marketing strategy, or to test the waters for feedback from the online community. Artists us leaks to build exposure, to apply pressure to a stubborn label, and sometimes to create controversy by leaking music before it's intended for release. Recently several artists have seen such strategies backfire; Bishop Lamont and Omarion were both dropped from their respective labels for allegedly leaking music without consent. Leaked tracks are generally traceable, technology is not always the pirate's friend. An unprecedented number of tracks have leaked from Jay-Z's highly anticipated 'The Blueprint 3,' leading many to assume foul play. Five new Jay tracks have appeared on the 'net over the past week or so. Most of the songs are said to be from the album, and at least four ('Off That,' featuring Drake, 'Reminder,' 'Venus vs. Mars' and 'Ghetto Techno') were produced by Timbaland. While Jay has been silent about the leaks, former protege Memphis Bleek has been quick to point the finger, claiming the culprit has to be a member of Timbaland's camp. "Man , you know where that's coming from. That's Timbo's camp," Bleek stated in a recent interview. "Somebody is playin' dirty. It's cool though. I like to see the people's opinions. I've been reading the comments on Jay's records saying that the beats don't sound like this or that. I think they just set the bar too high for my guy." While Bleek's claims have not been corroborated by any other evidence, Tim has been said to be unhappy with the amount of work he was able to contribute to 'The Blueprint 3,' as he was hoping to produce the majority of the album. Tim also allegedly held his best beats back from Jay this time around, stashing them for the follow-up to his recent platinum-seller, 'Shock Value.' As for the response to the leaked BP3 tracks from the online community -- most seem underwhelmed. Jay's past collaborations with Tim (i.e. "Big Pimpin") have produced some of their best work, yet the songs we've heard thus far from the two have been decidedly under par. Whether the song leaks turn out to be a marketing ploy to gauge the marketplace for Jay's new, more electronic sound, or have been released with malicious intent, has yet to be seen.
