NEW BRITAIN — A city man was held on a $250,000 bond following his arraignment Wednesday on charges he tried to sexually assault and kidnap a woman who he later dropped off at a hospital.
Jehad Smith, 40, of 42 Smith St., is accused of trying to force the 39-year-old woman into having sex with him at a park early Tuesday, police said.
The woman had gone out with Smith and another man for drinks and then the three went to Chesley Park, Detective Harold Gannon said.
Smith tried to force himself on the woman, who resisted his advances, according to the account she provided police.

The victim was eventually pushed from the moving vehicle, according to the police report.
The men stopped when they saw the woman appeared to be unconscious and put her back into the car, Gannon said. After dropping off his male passenger, Smith brought the unresponsive woman to the hospital around 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, claiming he found her on the street.
The woman was able to give police an account of what happened, Gannon said.
