VIDEO: Joell Ortiz & Frequency Interview w/ Jessie Maguire
The always hustlin’, Jessie Maguire recently took a trip out to Brooklyn and sat on the benches with Joell Ortiz & Frequency to discuss their recent street album Roadkill, Joell’s forthcoming sophomore album, Joell learning from the rest of Slaughterhouse, and their upcoming European tour.
VIDEO: JAY ELECTRONICA
In an effort to raise awareness for the fight against diabetes, Hip-Hop legends KRS-One, Dres (Black Sheep), Greg Nice, and few a more performed for a benefit concert last night at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Hosted by Michael Rappaport, Phife Dawg, and Okayplayer, the event had a line wrapped around the block all night long. But around midnight it was pretty clear who the folks came to see… minutes later Jay Electhanukkah crept out from the clusterf*ck going on backstage, that’s when I opted to climb back into the crowd for a better shot. It’s only just begun…

Jay Electronica Drops Visual for “Exhibit A”
While the world of Hip Hop twiddles their thumbs in anticipation for the drop of Just Blaze and Jay Electronica's joint effort Act II, this will have to hold everyone over until it drops, whenever that happens to be.
With the positive response from Exhibit C, Electronica takes it back to the first with the visual for Exhibit A (Transformations). Unlike the usual Hip Hop music video, thankfully, the rapper had the shoot done in Nepal/Dubai and it actually appears that the video will actually have some substance to it and not the usual ‘I'm gonna rap and look gangsta'.
The video was directed by Jason Goldwatch and cinematography was handled by Robot The Magnificent. Unfortunately a teaser, now there's more to wait for from Jay

NAS IS THE REASON FOR JAY ELECTRONICA'S DELAY?
NAS IS THE REASON FOR JAY ELECTRONICA'S DELAY?
I was reading and got a revelation from the site. Jay Electronica and Just Blaze were on DJ Green Lantern’s Invasion Radio and they talked in detail about the delay with Act II. They revealed that Nas sent his verses over way too late to make the expected release date. Oh well. Here is the audio. Look for the CT shout out!

New Year Resolutions for Rap Artists
With the calendar flipped to 2010, it's time to look ahead and set some goals for the future. I will attempt to get into the head of 10 hip-hop artists and propose some hypothetical New Year resolutions.
Lil Wayne
I resolve to put down the Styrofoam cup just long enough to focus on that masterpiece bubbling inside me. (In return, we, your fans, will pretend that Rebirth never happened)
50 CENT
I, Curtis, hereby resolve to make myself relevant again without resorting to contrived feuds or formulaic rap singles. I also resolve to leave other people's family (especially kids) out of my petty beefs.
Kanye West
I, Kanye, hereby resolve to say "The Connect 860" five times as slowly as possible next time I feel the urge to interrupt an award ceremony.
Big Boi
I, Antwan, do resolve to kidnap Andre 3000 and lock him up in the studio until we have three albums worth of material in the stash.
Nicki Minaj
I resolve to slowly but surely develop an identity that's not entirely similar to Lil Kim's. I also resolve to expand my lyrical scope beyond the length of a teaspoon.
Charles Hamilton
I resolve to stop shooting myself in the foot. Also, I will no longer make claims that are impossible to verify, like the one about my paranormal working relationship with J Dilla.
T.I.
I hereby resolve to run the other way as fast as I can next time I'm offered a busload of machine guns and silencers, no matter how attractive the price tag.
Nas
I resolve to ignore everyone who says that I'm incapable of crafting another Illmatic. I will remind them that "it's always forward I'm moving. Never backwards, stupid." I will then back this up by making another classic.
Gucci Mane
I resolve to hire a speech therapist at some point this year.

VIDEO: ROYCE VS BENZINO
Royce Da 5'9 Clowns On Benzino & Pulls Out His Rocket Launcher! "We Going To Talk When We See Each Other"
"A Pulaski County Special School District teacher put on administrative leave after a parent claims he used excessive force on a student and it's all caught on tape. The incident happened after the teacher stepped in to break up a fight

The beef between Benzino, Royce Da 5′9 and his Slaughterhouse crew is heating up.
Nearly a week after Zino leaked a diss track aimed at Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5′9, group member Crooked I has hopped into the mix.
Both sides have shot video responses back and forth. Most recently, it was Crooked I who filmed a response to the Hip Hop Weekly magazine owner/rapper following a recent video in which Zino tried to clarify the diss before flashing a gun equipped with a silencer on camera, saying he’s ready for any type of beef.
Crooked I wasn’t the tough talk, and felt compelled to say something.
“Do not go there. You went too far showing motherf***in’ pistols … that sh**’s not gangster. That sh** is called incriminating yourself,” he said. We not f***in’ around, we not playing around. Not at all. I’m doing this Slaughterhouse sh**, that’s what the f*** I’m doing. If you respect me, n**** you will stop all that. If you don’t respect me, then it’s gonna go where it gotta go. Straight up and down.”
The rapper went on to explain that he stepped forward because Royce is a member of his crew, and he’ll never let anyone talk anyone in Slaughterhouse negatively.
“My n**** [Royce Da 5'9], that’s my n****. I’m not gonna let no n**** talk foul about my n****, ever. Aight?” Crooked I said. “This is East Side Long Beach til the casket drop. If you n****s is out there talking that bullsh**, it’s not gonna be pretty homie. It’s gonna be ugly. … It’s not worth it homie.”
And … of course, Zino caught wind of Crooked I’s comments, and quickly jumped in front of a camera to say his peace. Zino claims he tried to help the hip-hop group by giving them publicity in his magazine, but after they rejected his request — due to politics — he was a bit disappointed.
Zino continued saying that Crooked should stay out of it, before ripping into him with insults and threats.
“Why don’t you let Royce … talk about respect you? Why don’t you mind yor f***in’ business n****, respect me. I’m gonna make you respect me. Believe that,” he said. “You p**** Crooked, and you named after a malt beverage. Ok? You ain’t never been sh**. I know Suge done let your ass butt ass naked out there a long time ago. You need to go handle that. You don’t want none of me.
“We gone see each other. Don’t make this no west coast thing. I been f***in’ with the west coast since you was in diapers. Sucka n****. I f*** with real n****s in the west. … It’s not about west coast, east coast. It’s about you and your bitch ass crew.”
Since all this started, the only thing Royce has said was that his next album, Bar Exam 3, would be “full of drama”.
Seems that 2010 is starting off with more of the same.
